In line with CarToq’s previous report, Nissan India has updated the Evalia MPV yet again. Prices of the updated MPV range between 8.49 and 10.67 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Delhi. The updated version of the MPV was first showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo and feature mild design changes. The grille up front follows Nissan’s global design language while the rear gets an additional helping of chrome by means of a garnish on the boot lid.
The center console on the MPV’s interiors sees a faux wood finish. Mechanically, the Evalia remains unchanged with the monocoque bodied MPV powered by a 1.5 liter-4 cylinder K9K turbo diesel engine that outputs 84 Bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque. The engine powers the front wheels of the Evalia by means of a five speed manual gearbox whose shifter is mounted on the dashboard for easy access.
The MPV is one of the more fuel efficient ones of its ilk, with an ARAI rated 19.3 Kmpl mileage figure. In its previous refresh that happened in the second half of last year, the Evalia gained features such as roof mounted air conditioning vents, a lid for the glove box, captain seats for the middle row, USB connectivity, rear wiper, rear defogger, anti-glare internal rearview mirror and openable middle row windows.
These feature additions were based on extensive customer feedback. The latest refresh of the Evalia has to do with keeping the MPV current, in market that is seeing a constant deluge of new products. On whether these changes so anything to spur the Evalia’s sales remains to be seen. One thing is certain though, Nissan is yet to give up on the MPV segment in India despite the Evalia’s slow sales. Globally, the Japanese automaker is betting big on the electric version of the Evalia, dubbed the e-NV200.
