Nissan India has lined up a slew of massive discounts on its cars sold in India. The pre-facelift version of the Sunny is the pick of the lot when it comes to discounts, with a massive 1.45 lakh rupees off, on the car. The facelifted variants of the Sunny also get discounts to the tune of 60,000 rupees. The Sunny sold in India gets two engine and three transmission options.
The engine line up includes the 1.5 liter HR15DE petrol motor that churns out 99 Bhp-134 Nm and the 1.5 liter K9K turbo diesel motor with rated outputs of 85 Bhp-200 Nm. Five speed manual gearboxes are standard on both engines with the petrol powered variants also available with a CVT automatic gearbox.

The Nissan Terrano SUV also joins the discount brigade with a 50,000 rupee discount. The Terrano is sold with petrol and turbo diesel engine options that its shares with the Renault Duster, the SUV on which it is based. The Terrano is front wheel driven and gets 5 speed and 6 speed gearboxes.
The SUV is likely to receive a four wheel drive option in the coming months given the fact that the Duster will receive one, later this month. The other two mass market cars in Nissan’s Indian portfolio, the Micra hatchback and the Evalia MPV, are also available at discounts. The Micra gets a 40,000 rupee exchange bonus while the Evalia gets a free insurance package. These discounts will run until the 31st of October, 2014.
Nissan India already rolled out discounts worth 38,000 rupees on the Datsun Go low cost hatchback last week and the latest crop of discounts on Nissan badged cars are aimed at boosting sales. The company isn’t having a great run at the hustings and has taken to discounting to stay relevant in the Indian car market, where it – along with Datsun – currently holds 1.92 % of the market.
