Nissan Kicks 1.3 litre turbo petrol compact SUV reviewed on video: Better than the Seltos/Verna?

Nissan recently updated the Kicks SUV to meet the new BS6 emission norms. Nissan discontinued the older 1.5 litre diesel engine from BS4 range and replaced it with a new 1.3 litre turbocharged petrol engine. The Kicks competes with cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos in the segment. Here we have a review video of the Nissan Kicks Turbo Petrol variant in XV trim.

The video has been uploaded by The Car Guide – Rishabh Arora on his youtube channel. The XV trim that is seen in the video is the base variant with which Nissan offers the turbo petrol engine. He simply starts by showing what all is offered even in this variant. Design-wise, Kicks remains unchanged. It gets signature Nissan style grille with chrome garnish, conventional headlamp setup with turn indicators and LED DRLs integrated in it. The front has a proper SUV type look and the fog lamps are also positioned on the lower part of the bumper.

The XV variant offers alloys wheels, touchscreen infotainment screen, electrically adjustable ORVMs, cooled glove box, rear view camera, rear defogger, dual airbags, traction control and so on. On the inside, it still lacks on providing practical storage space like a cup holder. The seats are all fabric in this version whereas the higher trims get leather wrapped steering and interiors.

Talking about the driving experience, the vlogger felt that the steering was a bit heavy for city driving conditions and the NVH levels, ride comfort was all up to the mark. The suspension is tuned to be on the firmer side and that reduces body roll by a small margin as per video. The engine felt peppy and can easily reach triple digits. The overall experience of driving the car was pretty good and the only suggestion he had was to improve steering for city usage.

The Kicks is now available in two petrol engine options, a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.3 litre turbocharged petrol. The 1.3 litre version generates 154 Bhp and 254 Nm of torque. It is available with a manual or a CVT gearbox option. The 1.5 litre engine option only comes with a manual gearbox. Prices for the turbo petrol version of Nissan Kicks starts at Rs 11.84 lakh, ex-showroom. The Kicks Turbo Petrol XV trim is the best priced high performance SUV in its segment.
