Nissan India has been teasing us with details of the BS6 compliant version of the Kicks SUV for quite some time. The Japanese automaker has now officially started taking bookings and have also announced the price of 2020 version. The 2020 Nissan Kicks now starts at an introductory price Rs 9.49 lakh, ex-showroom. In comparison to the BS4 version, the new BS6 version is Rs 6,000 cheaper. The new version of the SUV is available with two petrol engine options only. Nissan will no longer sell diesel powered cars in India.
In terms of pricing, the new Kicks’ turbo petrol variant (starting from Rs. 11.85 lakh) is over Rs. 1.5 lakh cheaper than the Kia Seltos Turbo Petrol Manual while the Kicks’ turbo petrol automatic variant (starting from Rs. 13.55 lakh) is over Rs. 2.7 lakh cheaper than the Hyundai Creta Turbo Petrol Automatic. While the Kia Seltos offers 6 speed manual and 7 speed twin clutch automatic gearboxes with the turbo petrol engine, the Hyundai Creta offers only a 7 speed automatic gearbox with the turbo petrol engine. The Kicks offers 6 speed manual and CVT automatic gearboxes with the 1.3 liter turbo petrol engine, which is more powerful than that offered on the Creta and Seltos. The diesel engine option that was available with the BS4 version was discontinued. Just like many other manufacturers, Nissan is also concentrating on petrol engines. The two petrol engine that are now available with Kicks are a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated unit and a 1.3 litre turbocharged petrol unit. The turbocharged engine is a new addition and makes Kicks most powerful car in the segment. It is also available with a CVT gearbox option.

The 1.3 litre turbo petrol engine in the Kicks generates a maximum of 154 Bhp and 254 Nm of torque. This engine is available with both manual and CVT gearbox options, whereas the old 1.5 litre unit is available with a manual gearbox only. Price for 1.5 litre unit starts at Rs 9.49 lakh, ex-showroom and turbo petrol version starts at Rs 11.84 lakh, ex-showroom.
In terms of design, 2020 Kicks looks same as before. It gets couple of new features like engine start switch on remote, connected car features and idle start stop system. The 1.3 litre turbo engine has a certified economy of 16.3 kmpl which is second best fuel efficient turbo petrol engine in the segment after Hyundai Creta.
Nissan is also providing a 2 year or 50,000 kms warranty as standard. It can be extended up to 5 years or 1,00,000 kms. Nissan is also giving free road-side assistance for 2 years in more than 1,500 cities across the country. Nissan Kicks is BS6 is available in 6 Monotone Colour Options: Blade Silver, Night Shade, Bronze Grey, Fire Red, Pearl White, Deep Blue Pearl; and 3 dual-tone colour options: Bronze Grey with Amber Orange, Fire Red with Onyx Black and Pearl White with Onyx Black.
