Made-in-India Nissan Magnite scores 4 stars in A-NCAP test [Video]

Recently, ASEAN NCAP car crash safety test agency revealed that the Nissan Magnite has scored four stars in safety crash test. Now, new details confirm that the Magnie tested by the agency is a made-in-India car but is for the Indonesian market. The all-new Magnite is already on sale in the Indonesian market and will soon be available in many other countries. Nissan India will export the car to numerous countries around the world.

The Magnite is a global product but is designed specifically for the Indian market. It is the brand’s smallest SUV on sale in the markets around the world. While car tested in A-NCAP is made-in-India, no one can confirm if the vehicle sold is identical to the India-spec vehicle. There are, however, only a few minor differences between the Global NCAP that tests vehicles for the markets around the world including India and ASEAN NCAP that tests the vehicles sold in the ASEAN countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and more.

Nissan Magnite scores

According to the new scores, the Nissan Magnite gets 39.02 points in Adult Occupant Protection and 16.31 points for Child Occupant Protection. The Safety Assist category of the new sub-4m compact SUV is 15.28 points. In total, the Magnite scored a total of 70.60 points.

As per A-NCAP, the Nissan magnite showed that there a risk of injury to the driver’s chest while the co-driver’s chest and lower legs have adequate protection in the frontal offset test. The A-NCAP test also shows that the Magnite has adequate protection if there’s a side impact to the vehicle. In the Child Occupant Protection category, the Magnite scored 7.81 points in the Dynamic Assessment Test with the 18-month old child. Whereas, the three-year-old child scored a full eight-point safety rating.

Indonesian-spec Nissan Magnite

The Indonesian-spec Nissan Magnite offers dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, and seat belt reminder for the front seat passengers. Also, the car comes with a 360-degree surround-view camera, reverse parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), traction control and more on the fully-loaded top-end version. The car is only available in two variants in the Indonesian market. There is an Upper and a Premium variant. The Premium variant is available with CVT. It is the top-end, fully-loaded version of the car that was tested by ASEAN NCAP.

Nissan Magnite in India

The Nissan Magnite is the most affordable car in the segment and is priced below the Kia Sonet. The Magnite offers two airbags across the variants as standard. Even the base version of the car offers the same two airbag system. The Magnite also offers safety features like ISOFIX anchor points for the child seats, ESP, traction control, ABS, and more. Nissan is also the only manufacturer to offer a 360-degree camera system with the Magnite. Also, there is a tyre pressure monitoring system, rear parking sensors and more.

Nissan announced that they will continue to offer the introductory price of the Magnite in the market for a longer period of time. At the time of the launch, Nissan announced that the introductory price of the Magnite will be valid only for the customers who book the vehicle before 31st December.
