Nissan reveals design approach of the upcoming Magnite compact SUV

Nissan is currently working on a sub-4 meter compact SUV and they had unveiled the Magnite concept SUV some time back. Images of the upcoming SUV concept are already available on the internet. Nissan Magnite concept-based SUV will be competing with the likes of Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, upcoming Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport in the sub-4 meter segment. Nissan India has now revealed the design approach taken to create its latest B-SUV, the Magnite Concept.

The Magnite Concept has newer design elements on the outside and inside. The newest offering in the Nissan family will take its global SUV legacy into the future and is designed for India and export markets. It gets a wide and spacious interior due to the horizontal instrument panel, distinctively shaped AC vents that gives it a sporty look and enhances the SUV feel. It also includes a sporty mono-form shape seat which enhances comfort and the rear seats offer robust pattern and rich cushioning adding to the premium-ness of the car.

On the outside, Nissan Magnite gets a bold and sporty looking design. It has sharp lines running all over the body. The Nissan signature wide front grille, LED headlamps, L shaped LED DRLs and faux skid plate all give it an SUV like look. Similarly the rear also has a lot going on and the LED tail lamps add to the premium look of the car.

Nissan reveals design approach of the upcoming Magnite compact SUV

Takumi Yoneyama, Design Manager, Nissan Motor Corporation, said,

The Nissan Magnite Concept embodies Nissan’s spirit in every way. Our design approach was based on the art of sculpting and not just drawing lines on paper. We sculpted a solid and dynamic feel by carving shape from a big, overhanging body. We followed the core of Japanese sense and aesthetic by extracting pure dynamism and shedding the unnecessary. We are proud to introduce our newest creation and we hope that our customers in India will love it.

Nissan Magnite might offer some segment first features when launched. It is expected to be launched in the market later next year. It is expected to be powered by couple of petrol engines – a 1.0 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine generating 72 Ps and 96 Nm of torque, and the 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine generating 95 PS of power mated to a CVT gearbox.  Due to its bold design and colour, The Magnite Concept is an eye-catcher and will definitely stand out in the crowd. Nissan will have to price this competitively in order to make this upcoming SUV more appealing to the customer.
