The sub-4 meter compact SUV segment is quite popular in our market and this segment is currently populated by Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport. Japanese car manufacturer Nissan has also been working on a sub-4 meter compact SUV and they recently unveiled the concept of the upcoming SUV. It is known as Magnite and is based on CMF-A platform that we have already seen in Renault Triber MPV. Nissan has now released an official video of their upcoming B-segment SUV that will be launched in the market later next year.
The video has been shared by Nissan India on their official youtube channel. The video basically shows the exterior design of the Magnite concept on which the original product is based on. The Magnite gets a very sharp looking design. Starting from the front, it gets a wide grille which is similar to some of the Datsun cars that we have seen already. The grille has chrome garnish around it and on either side of the grille it has a sharp looking headlamp cluster, and an LED unit with turn indicators in it.

Moving down towards the bumper, it gets a long ‘L’ shaped DRLs and fog lamps are placed below it. Nissan has even added a faux skid plate to add more character and give it an SUV stance from the front. Moving to the side profile, it has a wheel arches with black cladding on it and the concept also gets funky looking alloy wheels. There is a garnish on the lower side of the door with Magnite written on it.
Coming to the rear, of the car it gets sharp looking split LED tail light with turn indicator and reverse lamps in the centre. The rear looks quite muscular with black cladding and silver faux skid plate in the bottom. The design looks fresh and looks will be attractive to many young buyers.
Nissan has not revealed the interiors but, they have said that it will get a feature loaded cabin with many segment-first features. If Nissan manages to price this SUV competitively, this could be a game changer for the brand. The Magnite is likely to be powered by two engine options. A 1.0 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine generating 72 Ps and 96 Nm of torque and a 1.0 litre turbopetrol engine generating 95 PS of power mated to a CVT gearbox. Nissan will not offer diesel engine in Magnite SUV.
