Discounts range from Rs. 50,000+ on the Micra Active to over Rs. 1 lakh on the Terrano. These discounts are meant to boost the sales of Nissan’s cars and SUVs.
The Japanese automaker is going through a lean patch in terms of sales as almost all its cars have aged significantly when compared to competition. Nissan will be hoping that these large discounts bang in the middle of India’s festive season will help bring in more numbers for both dealers and service centers.
The offers on the Micra Active entry level hatchback (priced between Rs. 5.03 lakhs and Rs. 5.98 lakhs) include free insurance worth Rs. 20,000, a cash discount of Rs. 10,000, a Rs. 5,000 discount for government employees and a reduced interest rate of 7.99 %, which will translate into savings of over Rs. 15,000 over the loan tenure. Discounts on the regular Micra hatchback remain similar to that of the Active model, with only the cash discount component increasing to Rs. 12,000.
On the Sunny C-Segment sedan, Nissan is offering free insurance worth Rs. 35,000, a government employee discount of Rs. 7,000 and a reduced loan interest rate of 7.99 %. Early next year, Nissan is expected to launch an all-new SUV in India – the Kicks. The Kicks, which will use the B-Zero platform of the Terrano, will also share its engines with the latter. However, it will have a completely new design. The Kicks will compete with the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Captur.
It’ll be sold with 1.5 litre petrol and turbocharged diesel engines. It’s likely to be feature rich and sharply priced. We expect a starting price well under Rs. 10 lakhs for the Nissan Kicks. This compact SUV is likely to herald Nissan’s new strategy and product blitz for the Indian market.
