Nissan India is offering benefits worth Rs. 50,000 on the Sunny petrol sedan. The offer is applicable for the Nissan XL (mid variant) and XV (top-end variant) and is valid only till November 29th.
The offer on the Sunny includes free insurance worth Rs. 25,000 and accessories worth Rs. 25,000. CarToq spoke to a Nissan dealer who stated that the accessories include reverse parking sensors, steering wheel cover, antirust coating, Teflon coating, mud flaps and floor mats. At present, the Sunny XL is priced at RS. 6.88 lakh and Sunny XV is priced at Rs. 7.68 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
Let’s check out if the current offer makes the Sunny sedan a better ‘value for money’ proposition when it is pit against its chief competitors, the Toyota Etios and the Maruti Suzuki SX4.
Nissan Sunny vs. Toyota Etios
The price of the Sunny XL is Rs. 6.88 lakh which is more than the price of Toyota Etios V variant (Rs. 6.51 lakh). Both the cars have features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and integrated audio system. However, the Sunny XL comes with accessories such as reverse parking sensor, steering wheel cover and antirust coating not found in the Etios V variant. Hence, the Sunny XL, through this offer, has a slight edge over the Etios V variant.
The price of the Sunny XV is Rs.7.68 lakh which is higher than the price of Toyota Etios VX variant (Rs. 6.97 lakh). The Etios VX is equipped with sporty leather wrapped steering wheel, audio controls on steering wheel, side skirt and DVD audio system making it slightly more ‘value for money’ than the Sunny XV variant.
Nissan Sunny vs Maruti Suzuki SX4
The Sunny XL is significantly cheaper than the Maruti SX4 which has a starting price of Rs. 7.07 lakh for the VXi variant. Despite being cheaper, the Sunny XL still packs in goodies such as driver airbag, reverse parking sensor, steering wheel cover and antirust coating not available in the SX4 VXi variant.
Also, the top-end variant of SX4 (ZXi) is priced at Rs. 7.75 lakh which is significantly higher than the price of Sunny XV variant (Rs. 7.68 lakh). Again the Sunny XV with parking sensors and antirust coating is a slightly better proposition over the SX4 ZXi.
Benefits worth Rs. 50,000 on the Sunny XL variant make it a better deal as against the Etios V and the SX4 VXi variants. However, when it comes to the top-end variants, despite the free insurance and accessories on the Sunny XV, the Etios VX is a better value for money.
