2016 was a relatively quiet year for Nissan India. Yes, their sub brand, Datsun did come out with the Redi-Go and they themselves launched the iconic GT-R in the country. However, nothing else major was introduced by the company, a thing they are planning to change in 2017, from the looks of it. To begin 2017 on a high, Nissan has launched an updated version of its mid-size sedan, the Sunny. This is only a cosmetic update though.
Changes?
For the new model year, the car gets an all-new exterior shade, christened ‘Sandstone Brown’. With this addition, the Sunny is now available in a total of 6 exterior colour options. In addition to the new colour, the car also gets chrome door handles, something our chrome loving country will appreciate. While there isn’t any other change on the outside, there are a few small touches which have been incorportated on the inside. Features and overall layout remain the same, however customers can now opt for an all-black cabin, which includes seats, dashboard as well as door panels.
Powerhouse?
The Sunny continues to be powered by the same engine options that were previously on offer. So you have the 1.5 liter k9k diesel unit which does duty on the whole Nissan and Renault diesel range and a 1.5 liter petrol engine as well. While the petrol engine comes with the option of a 5-speed manual and a CVT, the diesel only is offered in the manual guise. The diesel engine is in the 85 Bhp state of tune and produces a torque of 200 Nm while the petrol produces 98 Bhp and 134 Nm.
