Nissan Sunny Special Edition launched: Cheaper than Maruti Ciaz & Honda City

In a bid to generate some interest around the only sedan it sells in India, Nissan has just launched a special edition version of the Sunny C-Segment sedan. The special edition model is based on the XL variant, which is the middle trim of the car.

Prices start from Rs. 8.48 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi making it a lot cheaper than the mid trims of best selling C-Segment sedans. such as the Maruti Ciaz (Rs. 8.8 lakhs) and the Honda City (10.82 lakhs). The Sunny is as spacious as the Honda City and Maruti Ciaz, a factor that makes it an ideal chauffeur-driven car.

As for changes, the special edition Nissan Sunny gets the following stylistic elements on the outside, which differentiate it from the the regular models: black roof wrap, new body decals, black wheel covers and a rear spoiler.

On the inside, the C-Segment sedan gets a 6.2’’ touchscreen infotainment unit with stereo, navigation and phone mirroring features. This is a head unit from Blaupunkt that has a wide range of features including NissanConnect. NissanConnect offers geo-fencing, speed alert, curfew alert, nearby pit-stops, Locate My Car and Share My Car Location. Other key features on the special edition Nissan Sunny include keyless entry, push-stop-start via intelligent key, ABS+EBD, dual airbags, speed-sensing door lock and Driver Seat Belt Reminder.

Mechanically, the Nissan Sunny Special Edition does not get any changes. The petrol motor is the 1.5-litre HR15DE motor with 99 Bhp-134 Nm, and is paired to a CVT automatic gearbox. The diesel motor is the 1.5-litre K9K turbocharged unit with 85 Bhp-200 Nm. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard with the diesel engine, which is highly regarded for excellent fuel efficiency. The biggest selling points of the Sunny are its spacious interiors, and sharp pricing. However, it’s a very slow seller compared to vehicles, such as the Maruti Ciaz and Honda City.
