Official Instagram account of Kia Motor India hacked

Kia, which is one of the popular car brands in India fell victim to hackers today. The Instagram account of Kia India was hacked earlier this day. The Instagram account was hacked by unidentified people and wrote “Remember us? #ly #tomy Party time” As per various media reports, Kia has confirmed that their Instagram account has indeed been hacked and they are currently working on recovering the account.

This is not the first time something like this has happened to Kia. Earlier this year, one of the Kia dealer in Pakistan had Posted a tweet claiming solidarity with Kashmir released in support of Pakistan-sponsored ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’, asked for the ‘remembrance of those struggling for freedom in Kashmir’. The post caused massive controversy. The message was taken down from the internet almost immediately. Hacking refers to activities that seek to compromise digital devices, such as computers, smartphones, tablets, and even entire networks. Hackers are motivated by personal gain, to make a statement, or just because they can. In this case, it is not clear whether the hackers have any specific demand from the manufacturer or not.

When compared to other car manufacturers, Kia is still a new brand in India. The manufacturer launched its first product Seltos in 2019. The car became popular among buyers almost immediately and is still one of the best sellers in the segment. People liked Seltos for its bold looks, premium interiors and also the price. Kia also has a manufacturing facility in India and Seltos was entirely made in India and was also exported to other countries. Other than Seltos, Kia has Sonet, Carnival and also the flagship electric crossover EV6. Kia has already launched the facelift version of the Seltos SUV in international markets. The mid life update for the Seltos SUV would be arriving in the Indian market early next year.

The SUV would get cosmetic changes and would also offer more features. It would be getting a redesigned interior that looks premium than the current version. In terms of engine options, Kia is expected to offer the same 3 engine options as the current version. There will be a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that comes with manual and IVT gearbox. There will be a 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine that comes with manual and 6-speed automatic transmission. The third and the most powerful engine option is the 1.4 litre turbo petrol engine which is available with manual and 7 speed DCT gearbox.

The 1.5 litre petrol engine generates 115 Ps and 140 Nm of torque. The 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine generates 115 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque and the turbo petrol engine generates 140 Ps and 242 Nm of torque. Kia Seltos is also the only SUV in the segment to offer an IMT gearbox option. With all these changes and feature update, the price of the Seltos facelift is likely to go up. The Kia Seltos competes with cars like Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, lower variants of Mahindra XUV700, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun.
