Okinawa Ridge+ electric scooter with detachable lithium-ion battery launched in India

Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer Okinawa Autotech has launched Ridge+ scooter. The Ridge+ is priced at Rs 64,998, ex-showroom (Delhi). The new Okinawa Ridge+ is now available in all of the electric scooter maker’s showrooms across India and costs Rs 21,000 more than the regular Ridge scooter.

The Ridge scooter features a lead-acid battery pack. However, for the Ridge+, Okinawa Autotech has swapped the lead-acid battery pack for a lithium-ion unit that can be removed from the bike and can then be charged.

An 800 W BLDC motor which is also waterproof is paired to the new lithium-ion battery pack which allows for a claimed range of 120 kilometres. and a loading capacity of 150 kilogrammes. The Okinawa Ridge+ comes equipped with a micro charger that charges the battery pack in just two hours time. The Okinawa Ridge+ has a top speed of 55 km/h.

Speaking at the launch of the Ridge+, Jeetender Sharma, the managing Director of Okinawa Autotech said,

The Ridge+ offers great convenience by providing the detachable battery which makes the charging at ease. Users can take out the battery and carry to their home or office for charging purpose. Equipped with a Micro-charger featuring Auto-cut that get the scooter up and running in 2 hours flat. The high mileage offered by it is a treat for the explorers amidst our users for whom the roads are not a means towards a destination but an experience in themselves. Lastly, the unique design and colour scheme of the Ridge+ will definitely make it, along with its proud owner, stand out among the crowds.

The new Okinawa Ridge+ retains the same styling as the lead-acid battery powered Ridge and is offered in two colour options – Midnight Blue and Magna Gray. The Okinawa Ridge+ gets a host of features including Electronic-Assisted Braking System (e-ABS), keyless entry, central locking and an anti-theft alarm. The Ridge+ also gets Okinawa’s Find My Scooter setup which allows you to remotely locate your electric scooter.
