Ola Electric created a lot of buzz in the Indian market when they launched the S1 electric scooter in the Indian market. Ola has already raised $200 Million in September alone and they sold Rs. 1,200 Crore worth of scooters. The manufacturer has also started test drives of the scooters in some of the cities. Now, Ola has revealed that they will be starting the deliveries of the scooter this month. Some people will get delivery of their scooter in December, some in January and others in February.
Varun Dubey, Chief Marketing Officer, Ola Electric said, “When we opened this up on September 15 and 16, we already communicated the delivery windows to customers. Some people will get the scooters in November, some in December, some in January and others in February. The next date of booking is opening in December”
They will also be reopening the bookings for the S1 on December 16th. People who have reserved their scooters by paying Rs. 500 earlier can pay an additional amount and can book the scooters. They can also take a test drive of the scooters before they decide to pay the additional amount. Currently, there are two scooters on sale. There is the S1 and S1 Pro. The S1 is priced at Rs. 99,999 and the S1 Pro is priced at Rs. 1,29,999.
Ola is not following the traditional model that other automobile manufacturers follow. There are no dealerships or service centres. A person can book the scooter online and pay for it. The scooter will be delivered to the doorstep. If the person wants to do a test drive then the scooter will be delivered to his house for the test drive. Even if the scooter needs servicing, the person can book an appointment online and the service technician will show up at the door step and will service the scooter there only. In case, the scooter has been in an accident then the person would need to make an appointment and a technician from Ola will take the scooter, repair it and will deliver it back to the person.
“Service is going to be like our sales. When you buy a scooter from us, you can buy it online. You can get a test drive and then the scooter gets delivered to your house. Similarly, if you require service, it is condition based and so the scooter will alert you as and when service is required. You do not need to follow a set time or distance. Then if you need, you can just book an appointment on our app and our service technician will show up at your house and our service technician will show up at your house and we will service the scooter there. Suppose you have been in an accident or you need paint work or paint shop work, we will take the scooter, do all the work and then deliver it back.” said Varun.
More electric vehicles coming
Ola is working on more electric vehicles. They are developing more mass-market scooters, motorcycles and even four-wheelers. Varun said, “The four-wheeler plan is in play. We will do the full range of electric vehicles. We have right now launched with the S1 and Pro which are the first in our range of scooters. We are obviously going to do a mass-market scooter also. We are also going to do bikes.”
