Snapshot – Continuing our round up of classy lookers from DC Design, which are few and far-in-between, here is the second installment of the “10 Classy Cars” from the Indian design house. In case, you haven’t read the first installment, click here to do so right away.
DC Avanti Sportscar
India’s first homegrown sportscar, the DC Avanti, which will go on sale later this year or early next year, is one of the classier designs from DC Design. The car features a 2 liter turbo petrol Ford EcoBoost engine that outputs 240 Bhp and 340 Nm. The car gets a 6 speed manual gearbox that drives the rear wheels. DC Design has positioned the engine in the middle of the car to give it better weight distribution and to also make it a mid engined sportscar. The DC Avanti will be priced between 25-30 lakh rupees, making it India’s most affordable sportscar.
DC Tia City Runabout
DC Design showcased the Tia city runabout at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo in concept guise. One of the few concepts from DC Design slated to go into production, the Tia is expected to hit Indian roads in 2016. The car is expected to be priced at 18 lakh rupees. A 1.2 liter turbo petrol engine that outputs 120 Bhp-190 Nm powers the pint sized powerhouse. The Tia’s diminutive dimensions (2.55 meters in length, 1.68 meters in width, 1.41 meters in height and a 1.62 meter wheelbase) could make it a hoot on city streets, what with the car’s rear wheel drive layout and an automatic transmission. A 200 mm ground clearance and 18 inch wheels are the other impressive bits of the Tia.
DC Audi Q7 Matte Wrap Job
The Audi Q7 luxury crossover gets a gangsta’ look with a matte gray wrap job by DC Design. Apart from the matte grey wrap, the exteriors of the Q7 crossover modified by DC Design remain untouched and this is a good thing. On the inside, the Audi Q7’s stock upholstery has made way for garish red interiors, which might not suit everyone’s tastes. The wood paneling on the door though, is a classic touch. The DC Audi Q7 retains stock mechanicals of the 4.2 TDI variant, which means that the SUV is powered by a lusty V8 turbo diesel motor good for 326 Bhp-760 Nm. An 8 speed automatic transmission feeds the all wheel drive layout.
DC W222 Mercedes Benz S-Class
Another minimalist design from DC Design, the W222 Mercedes Benz S-Class gets an electric blue paint job, which makes it stand out from the factory-spec model. The chrome on the car’s makes way for a piano black finish, adding another dollop of desirability to the design. DC Design has also added an AMG kit to the car’s body work. The DC Design S-Class S500 is mechanically unchanged. The car is powered by a 4.7 liter petrol engine with twin turbochargers. This engine is rated to produce 453 Bhp of power and 700 Nm. Since the W222 Mercedes Benz S-Class is also sold with a diesel engine, the same set of modifications can be effected to the diesel variant as well.
DC Ford EcoSport
Like the DC Duster, the Ford EcoSport that gets the DC Design kit stands out from the scores of EcoSports that are now a prominent vehicles on Indian roads. The DC EcoSport gets a smashing looking front end dominated by LEDs and a massive grille. On the inside, the DC EcoSport sees completely revamped upholstering. Beige dominates proceedings on the inside, lending an airy look. The seating layout has been altered to now accommodate four passengers, with a new infotainment system thrown in for good measure. The DC Ford EcoSport is expected to be priced similar to the kit available on the Duster, at about 3.5 lakh rupees.
