The French manufacturer, Peugeot is planning to enter the Indian automotive space in 2019. They have already entered into a collaboration with CK Birla to manufacture cars in India. Peugeot 208, which is expected to be debut in India as their first car has been spotted quite often testing on the Indian roads. Now a new picture shows that a group of 208s registered with the Pune RTO. A database search reveals that the vehicle is registered to “PCA Motors Pvt Ltd”, which means that the brand will have the registered office somewhere in Pune.
The 208 will be the entry-level vehicle from the manufacturer. It looks quite modern with sweptback large headlamps with projector lamps, a big black grille with a thick chrome border, aggressive bumper design with chrome bordered fog housings and round fog lamps.
On the inside, the vehicles get all-black interiors with a 3-spoke steering wheel. The steering wheel gets controls for various settings in the vehicle. The centre of the dashboard gets a touch-sensitive infotainment system and air conditioning vent is located just below it. The car gets a good share of chrome with the side AC vents and interior door handles getting dipped in chrome.
The vehicle seen in the pictures seem to be the top spec variant and it gets power windows and electrically adjustable ORVMs. However, there is no start/stop button. There is contrast stitching on the body. Safety wise, the vehicle gets front disc brakes and side airbags in addition to the dual front airbags.
While the car data reveals that it is petrol powered, there is no information about the displacement of the engine. The Indian model is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder engine that produces about 80 Bhp and there will be a diesel engine as well. The automatic transmission is also expected in the 208. Peugeot will officially start rolling out the vehicles in the Indian market from 2019.
