Chess Prodigy Praggnanandhaa Receives XUV400 Electric SUV Gift: Thanks Anand Mahindra

Praggnanandhaa's XUV400

We have seen Anand Mahindra gift Thar and XUV700 SUVs to young and upcoming sports personalities in the past. This time around, he has decided to gift a new car to chess prodigy Praggnanandhaa for his outstanding performance in the game, at an international level. Mr. Mahindra, instead of gifting a regular ICE vehicle, decided to gift him a brand new XUV400 electric SUV.

After Praggnanandhaa’s outstanding performance at the FIDE World Chess Cup, people started coming up with tweets tagging Anand Mahindra, asking him to gift the young athlete a brand new Mahindra Thar. When many more people came forward with similar demands, Anand Mahindra decided to respond.

Anand Mahindra, known to be extremely active on social media, wrote, “Appreciate your sentiment, Krishlay, & many, like you, have been urging me to gift a Thar to @rpragchess. But I have another idea… I would like to encourage parents to introduce their children to chess & support them as they pursue this cerebral game (despite the surge in popularity of video games!). It’s an investment in a better future for our planet, just like EVs. And so, I think we should gift an XUV4OO EV to the PARENTS of @rpragchess, Shrimati Nagalakshmi & Shri Rameshbabu, who deserve our gratitude for nurturing their son’s passion & for giving him their untiring support. What do you think, @rajesh664?”

Anand Mahindra made this announcement in August 2023, and on March 12, Praggnanandhaa posted an image of him and his family with their brand new Mahindra XUV400. The young chess player wrote, “Received XUV 400, My Parents are very happy. Thank you very much @anandmahindra sir.”

Last year, Praggnanandhaa not only won the silver medal at the FIDE World Chess Cup but also became the first Indian to reach the finals since Viswanathan Anand in 2002.
