Ashish Mutereja asked the community which diesel hatchback he should go for considering fuel efficiency and low cost of maintenance as key factors. Ashish is considering the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Maruti Suzuki Ritz as his primary options.
The Swift however has a long waiting period in most cities like CarToqmember Aravind Anbu pointed out. This clearly means that Ashish should opt for the Ritz if he cannot afford to wait that long. Other options he is open to are, the Volkswagen Polo and the Hyundai i20.
Now the base model of the Swift, the LDI costs Rs. 5.27 lakh around which price Ashish can go for the top-end Ritz VDI as it costs Rs. 5.30 lakh. The Hyundai i20 and Polo on the other hand starts at Rs. 6.20 lakh (i20 1.4L Magna) and Rs. 5.60 lakh (Polo 1.2 TDI Trendline) respectively.
So it is evident that the Hyundai i20 is a little more expensive than the other options but it is also a great feature loaded car. The Polo is a great option considering its brand value and the fact that it is readily available in most places. However if Ashish can afford to wait the all new Swift is a great car, not only in terms of driving pleasure and fuel economy but also in terms of resale value and after sales services.
