Sudhakar Lokesh wants the community to help him pick from the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Tata Vista. His chief concerns are price and mileage.
Since mileage is important for him he should opt for a diesel car no matter which vehicle he buys. The base Maruti Swift LDI has a mileage of 23 kmpl and costs Rs. 5.28 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The base Tata Vista LS Quadrajet has a mileage of 23 kmpl as well and costs Rs. 4.87 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.
It is evident that the Vista is more affordable and since price is a key factor for Sudhakar it is the Vista which scores here. Moreover the Vista does not have a waiting period that is as painfully long as the Swift’s.
The Vista has a 1248 cc, 4-cylinder engine that produces 74 bhp of power at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 1750-3000 rpm. The Swift has the same 1248 cc engine that produces the same power of 74 bhp at 4000 rpm but it makes 190 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm.
In terms of performance and mileage both the cars are on the same level with the Swift inching ahead a little as its peak torque comes in earlier in the rev band. Sudhakar’s decision here should be based on his preference for looks and the time he can wait for the car. What do you think? Share your views in the comments section below!
