Rare cars: Maruti Baleno Altura on video

Station wagons are a popular choice among buyers in many countries but, in India this body type has never been successful. There were several manufacturers who introduced station wagon versions of their popular sedans in India. Some of the cars in this segment were Tata Indigo Marina, Skoda Octavia Combi, Fiat Weekend, Fiat Palio Adventure and so on. Even Maruti Suzuki had a station wagon based on the the Baleno sedan. The station wagon version was known as Baleno Altura. Like other cars in the segment, even this did not grab much attention. One can rarely spot these cars on our roads and even manufacturers have stopped bringing out such models in India. Here we have a  beautifully modified Maruti Baleno Altura on video.

The video has been shared by Revokid Vlogs on their YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger shows a walkaround of a Maruti Baleno Altura station wagon which is a rare car on our roads. The owner of this car had modified the car and the video also talks about them.

The vlogger starts by showing the exterior of the car. The car looks exactly like the regular Maruti Baleno sedan. It has a typical JDM car like design which many like. It has curved out headlamps with integrated turn indicators. The owner has made several modifications to the car on the outside. The headlamps for example get a blacked out eye lid which gives it an aggressive look.

A set of auxiliary lamps have been installed on the bumper and the bumper itself gets a skirting on lower part. Coming to the side profile, the car has been lowered and that completely changes the look of the car. The car now gets wider 17 inch aftermarket alloy wheels and tyres. The fenders, both at the front and rear have been customised to accommodate the wider wheels.

The whole cars gets a black paint job and all the chrome elements have been completely blacked out. The lowered stance along with the black paint job is doing a lot to the look of the car. It is only when you come to the side profile of the car you realise that it is now regular Baleno sedan but, the station wagon version. The cabin above the regular boot of the Baleno has been neatly integrated to convert it into a station wagon.

Other than this, the owner has done no modifications to the car. The car still gets the factory fitted exhaust and engine. The interiors of this Baleno Altrura have not been altered with. The interior is the same as the Baleno sedan with basic features and buttons on the inside.

The owner wanted a car that is different from others in the market and that is why he opted for a station wagon. The Baleno Altura is powered by the same engine as the sedan. It gets a 1.6 litre, in-line 4 cylinder engine that generates 94 Ps and 130 Nm of peak torque. No modifications have been done to the car in this section. Overall, the work done on this car looks extremely good.
