Renault Captur “Bose Edition” SUV in the works

Renault India is said to be working on a new, ‘Bose Edition’ of the recently launched Captur SUV. The Bose Edition of the Captur will be targeted at audiophiles, and is said to be arriving in India during April 2018. Bose is a high-end American audio brand. In the past, Renault has offered a high-end Bose sound system on the Koleos crossover.

The Captur ‘Bose Edition’ is expected to pack in a high-end Bose stereo with acoustics to match. The new model is expected to be priced slightly higher than the regular Captur. Currently, Captur prices range between Rs. 10 lakhs and Rs. 14.06 lakhs.

The Captur is a five seat SUV that is based on the Duster’s Dacia M-Zero platform. It is sold with a front wheel drive system in India although this platform can also accommodate an all wheel drive layout. Enthusiasts would have liked Renault to offer an all wheel drive system with this SUV. This is something Renault may consider in the coming years, as and when the Captur get a mid life facelift.

The Captur sold presently offers 2 engine options – a 1.5 liter petrol engine with 105 Bhp-142 Nm, and a 1.5 liter turbocharged diesel engine with 110 Bhp-240 Nm. The petrol engine gets a 5 speed manual gearbox while the diesel engine gets a 6 speed manual gearbox. There are no automatic transmission options available presently. Next year, Renault could offer automatic transmission options on both the petrol and diesel engines.

The Captur competes with the Hyundai Creta, and is priced slightly higher than the Renault Duster. The vehicle is also slightly larger than the Duster, and also roomier. The good bits about the Captur include its fresh design, and sublime ride quality. The vehicle could have done with a little more pep on both the petrol and diesel engines.
