Renault has released an official teaser video of its upcoming SUV, the Captur. The vehicle will be placed above the Duster in terms of positioning. Here is an official teaser of the same:
Details of the SUV:
Here are a few things we know for sure after seeing the teaser leaks of the SUV. For starters, the car will be getting LED headlamps, as shown in the picture. In addition to this, the car will get LED indicators as well and C shaped LED DRLs, something that we have seen on the spy shots previously. The car will also get the more fancy LED tail lamp cluster. The company will showcase the SUV in India on 21st of this month, post which the launch will take place.
The Captur shares the same platform with the Duster, which means high levels of localisation will be achieved with this as well. While globally, there are different engine options, we expect the 1.5 liter K9K diesel engine on the Duster to be offered on the Captur, in 110 PS guise. Transmission options are not yet known though.
One main thing that we do know is the SUV will only be offered as a 5 seater. It will come with push button start and key-less go. It will be equipped with 17″ tyres and will have a ground clearance of 215 mm (unladen), which will make it higher than the Duster. It will have ambient lighting on the inside and will also have cruise control. It will have a new instrument cluster which will be more high tech, however the fuel gauge will be carried forward from the Duster. One surprising omission is the lack of 60:40 split rear seats. While the rear seats do fold down, there is no split.
