Renault Kiger Compact SUV: New TVC released

Renault India recently unveiled their all-new sub-4 meter compact SUV Kiger in the market. The SUV competes with the likes of Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and recently launched Nissan Magnite in the segment. Renault has not announced the price of this SUV but, it is expected to be one of the most affordable compact SUV in the market. Renault is expected to launch this all-new SUV by March 2021. Before launch, Renault India has released a new TVC that shows the Kiger compact SUV in detail.

The video shows exterior design and the interior features of the Kiger. The video is uploaded on to Renault India’s official youtube channel. Renault calls Kiger a Sporty, Smart and Stunning SUV. The video starts by showing the exterior of the Kiger. The front end gets a Renault Signature front grille. There are LED DRLs that actually look like an extension of the grille itself. The front end is actually a mix of both Triber and Kwid. Turn indicators are also placed right under the DRLs.

Coming down, the bumper looks a bit muscular. There are ice cube shaped LED headlamp and fog lamp placed on the bumper. In order to justify the SUV look, the lower part of the bumper looks quite muscular too. Moving to the side profile, there are thick cladding all around the car, the Kiger gets sporty looking diamond cut alloy wheels and a dual tone option is available on this new SUV. The blacked out ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, silver finished functional roof rails, body coloured door handles all look good on the SUV.

Moving to the rear, a roof mounted spoiler which is similar to the one seen on Nissan Magnite is installed with high mounted stop lamp. The boot gets a Renault logo and Kiger badging is also there on the boot. Kiger gets ‘C’ shaped split tail lamps and the bumper gets reflectors on it. Lower part of the bumper gets a silver finish and is designed to look like a skid plate.

On the inside, Renault Kiger will get a fully digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, wireless charging and so on. Renault also claims that Kiger will offer best in class knee room and cabin storage volume. Kiger also comes with push button start, multi function steering wheel and premium audio system from Arkamys.

Coming to the engine and gearbox section, Renault Kiger comes with two petrol engine options. It is the same engine option that is available with Nissan Magnite. Renault Kiger will get 1.0 litre petrol engine in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms. The naturally aspirated version of the Kiger will generate 72 Ps and 96 Nm of torque. This engine is available with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox.

The next option is a 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 100 Ps and 160 nm of peak torque. This engine will be available with a 5-speed manual and CVT gearbox option. Renault Kiger will be the most affordable compact SUV in Indian market when launched. Renault might launch the new Kiger at an introductory price of Rs 4.99 lakh, ex-showroom.
