Renault launched their first SUV, the Koleos 4×4, 5-seater premium SUV during September 2011 at an initial price of Rs. 22.9 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The Koleos takes on the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero, Ford Endeavour and Chevrolet Captiva.

During January 2012, the company hiked the price of the Koleos by Rs. 1 lakh due to increase in cost of raw materials and fluctuations in the currency market. At present, the Koleos costs Rs. 23.99 lakh for the 4×4 diesel automatic variant.
The Koleos is powered by a 2-litre, common-rail turbo diesel motor that belts out 148 bhp of peak power and 320 Nm of torque. The top speed of the SUV is 180 kmph (claimed) and it can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 12.3 seconds. The claimed mileage of the Koleos is 13.7 kmpl.
The Koleos comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. There are three modes for the 4×4 system: 4WD lock, 2WD lock or auto 4WD lock. In the auto 4WD lock mode, the intelligent 4×4 system will prevent the wheels from locking when driving on slippery terrain.
The Koleos is offered only in a single variant: the 4×4 diesel automatic. The following table shows the features offered in the Koleos.
