Every manufacturer in the country is now after making their models compliant to the upcoming emission norms. The BS6 emission norms will be implemented from 1st April 2020. Many manufacturers have already stopped production of BS4 vehicles and are in a hurry to clear their their stocks before 1st of April. French car manufacturer Renault has also introduced their popular hatchback Kwid with BS6 compliant engine recently and here is a walkaround video of the same. The car in the video is the Renault Kwid Climber version.
The video has been uploaded by Auto Trend TV on their youtube channel. The video starts by showing the exterior of the Kwid Climber. Kwid had recently received an update in terms of styling. The front of the car is now completely different from the older Kwid. The Kwid now gets an LED DRL and turn indicators on both sides of the front grille and the headlamp is placed on the lower part of the bumper. The area around the headlight gets a black cladding with orange inserts only on the Climber version.
The lower part of the bumper gets a faux skid plate in grey colour with orange inserts. Moving to the side profile, Renault had done a smart thing with the wheels. They have given a Kwid wheels caps that look a lot like alloy wheels in gun metal grey finish. Apart from that Kwid has ‘Climber’ written on the front door and the ORVMs also get an orange finish. At the rear, the design remains the same with orange inserts at places.
On the inside, the Climber version of the Kwid follows the theme as found on the outside. It gets the orange inserts around the touchscreen infotainment system and other places. The steering wheel remains the same flat bottom unit with minute touches that differentiate it from regular Kwid.
The major update that the Kwid got this time was the BS6 engine. The Kwid is available with two engine options – a 799cc engine and a 1.0 litre engine which are both petrol powered. The climber version is powered by the 1.0 litre engine and is available with a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox that produces 68 PS and 91 Nm of torque. Prices for Kwid BS6 now start at Rs 2.92 lakh ex-showroom and go up till Rs 5.01 lakh, ex-showroom. Renault is planning to launch an electric version of the Kwid in 2022. The car was shown at the Auto Expo 2020.
