According to a report by Motorbeam, the Renault Kwid will get dual airbags and ABS but only on the rumoured 1.0 litre version. Currently available with a 799 cc, the Kwid only gets an optional driver airbag on the top-spec RxT trim level while ABS is not available.
The said 1.0 litre version is expected to be out next year, and while the company is mum on that, the engine is likely to be powering the Brazil-spec Kwid, too. The other startling thing which the report mentions is that both dual airbags and ABS will be standard across the range on the higher powered version. Not only will that improve the Kwid’s chances of passing the BNVSAP, it will give the car a head start in the safety aspect as well.
Launched in September this year, the Kwid has received a great response from the market. And while the production is yet to meet the huge demand, the company is said to have received about 75,000 bookings for the vehicle.
