Renault has had its ups and downs in the Indian market. Where the Duster and the Kwid managed to get the attention of the customers, the Scala, Pulse and Lodgy didn’t do so well. In a bid to take on the Innova Crysta now, Renault is planning to bring in the Grand Scenic MPV.
A report via Gaadiwaadi.com suggests that Renault India has filed a patent for the new MPV in India. The company has already revealed that they want to expand their portfolio in the Indian market and this could be a step in that direction. The Grand Scenic is a large and stylish MPV which is from Renault’s global portfolio. It follows the Renault design theme which is quite funky and something that the Indian public is not used to.
Even though it is a MPV, it is very well designed and looks sporty. If they do bring this vehicle into the Indian market, it will sit above the Lodgy. In the UK market, the vehicle is offered with either the same k9k diesel unit making 110 Bhp or a 1.6 liter unit making 130 Bhp.
The Grand Scenic in the international market comes with a lot of goodies like a digital instrument cluster that can be configured to show various parameters. The vehicle seats 7 people and also has the option of flexi- seating which means there are various combinations that can be had. Though MPVs are looked at as pure people movers in India, this could be a stylish and cool MPV which could be a good alternative to the Innova.
