Renault launched the Pulse hatchback at the Auto Expo 2012 in two variants: The base RXL is priced at Rs. 5.77 lakh while the loaded top-end version RXZ costs Rs. 6.25 lakh, making the latter about Rs. 17,000 cheaper than top-end Swift.
Pulse is basically a rebadged Micra and is being offered only in the diesel avatar 1.5-litre diesel engine that churns out 63bhp and 16.3kgm torque.
Mechanicals—the chassis, the gearbox etc—and the interiors remain the same. What changes are the looks—the front gets an aggressive styling with raked up lights and hexagonal grille.
Overall, not much new here…it will be interesting to see if Pulse helps add volumes to Renault-Nissan combine or whether it ends up eating into Micra share.
