Renault Triber compact MPV launched: Prices start from Rs. 4.95 lakhs

Renault India has just launched the Triber MPV in India. The compact MPV is India’s cheapest, at a starting price of Rs. 4.95 lakhs. The Triber measures under 4 meters in length and is based on the Kwid hatchback’s CMF-A platform. The use of the low cost car platform has allowed Renault to price this MPV at a very competitive price tag. In fact, the Triber could kickstart the sub-4 meter MPV segment, which really didn’t get going with the Datsun Go+. The Triber is powered by a 1 liter-3 cylinder petrol engine borrowed from the Kwid, but gets higher power and torque outputs. This motor makes 71 Bhp-96 Nm on the Triber, and is offered with a single gearbox option: a 5 speed manual. A five speed AMT could be added in future given the fact that the Kwid offers the same with this very engine. The compact MPV’s bookings are open, and deliveries will from today. Renault dealers across India are also offering test drives of this latest people mover.

The Triber is available in four variants: RXE, RXL, RXT and RXZ. This is a typical Renault variant nomenclature, which is standard across most cars sold by the French automaker. The Triber’s biggest selling point is its versatility. The 7 seat layout can be mixed and matched to suit the owner’s requirements. The compact MPV can be configured as a 2, 4, 6 and 7 seater. The last row consists of two removable seats, giving the MPV great flexibility in terms of carrying luggage and passengers.

As for features, the top-end trim of the Triber has generous equipment levels. Twin airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensors, seat belt reminder, ISOFIX child seat provision and speed alerts are the various safety features that are standard across trims. The infotainment unit is a touchscreen MediaNAV unit that offers Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth music streaming and calling, and GPS navigation functions.

The Triber is aimed at younger buyers who want an outdoorsy vehicle that’s very affordable. The sharp pricing reflects just this. Also, the Triber’s 182 mm ground clearance means that it will handle almost all road conditions in India without a worry. The MPV rides on 14 inch wheels, which means that there will be a large selection of tyres available at affordable prices. To sum it up, the Triber is a compact MPV that’s meant to give price conscious buyer a modern, affordable people mover.
