Renault Triber: Which variant to buy

Renault Triber is the carmaker’s second ‘made for India’ product after the Kwid and therefore quite an important car for Renault. It is an MPV that, miraculously, packs three rows of seats within is a sub 4-meter length and comes for a starting price of Rs. 4.95 lakh, ex-showroom.

Renault Triber: Which variant to buy

The Triber is based on the CMF-A platforms that underpins the much smaller Kwid. It is a good-looking MPV which emphasises space and flexibility within a small footprint.

Mechanically, all variants are identical and are powered by a 1.0-litre, naturally-aspirated, 3-cylinder petrol engine which cranks out 72 HP and 92 Nm of torque. This is mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is no AMT option yet but one is expected in the future. Space is optimised with 100+ seating configurations and the main seat combinations feature four modes –. It can be configured in the 5-seater Life Mode, the 7-seater Tribe Mode, the 4-seater Surf Mode and the 2-seater Camp Mode. In 5-seater configuration—which you get by removing the last row of seats—Triber offers a very impressive 625 litres of space. Triber has a good fuel economy rated at 20 km/l by ARAI.

Prices start at Rs. 4.95 lakh for the entry level model with the top end variant costing Rs. 6.49 lakh. These are strictly hatchback category prices making the Triber a strong value-for-money offering.

What are the variants on offer?

The Triber variant line-up is simple with four variants with each priced about Rs. 50,000 higher than the preceding one. However, the entry level RXE and the one above it, the RXL are fairly barebones though they are priced attractively.

For Rs. 5.99 lakh, ex-showroom, you get the Triber RXT, which packs in front and rear skid plates, roof rails, electrically adjustable outside mirrors, rear power windows, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two additional speakers, a cooled lower glove box and a 12-volt accessory socket for the second row in addition to what you get with RXL. That is quite a decent list of useful features for a very reasonable sum. And this makes the Renault Triber RXT our variant of choice.
