Road rage incidents have become a lot more common in India, and we encounter at least one such incident from some part of the country every day. While many such incidents go unreported, there are a few who report them to the authorities with proof. With the rise in the number of road rage incidents, people have started installing dash cameras in their vehicles to use them as evidence in case of such incidents. One such incident recently happened in Pune, Maharashtra, where a motorcycle rider and pillion, coming from the wrong side of the road, blocked the way of a car and abused the driver. The driver posted the video online, and soon, the cops took action against the culprits.

The video has been shared by Karnajit on his X profile. The user wrote, “This abusive hooligan is obstructing my car in the middle of traffic after coming from the wrong side without a helmet and without following any traffic rules. Can we expect some action against these culprits?” As seen in the video, two individuals riding a Hero Splendor motorcycle are in front of the car. The driver of the car stopped the car, and the bikers started misbehaving.

They started abusing the car driver, and the driver was recording the video of the same on his mobile phone. When the biker saw this, he also asked the pillion to hand over his phone, and he also recorded a video. After recording the video, the biker probably pushed the bike back, and this gave the car driver some gap to drive forward. Luckily, things did not escalate. The biker was not only riding on the wrong side of the road; they were both not wearing proper riding helmets too.

The registration number of the bike was clearly visible in the video. After this incident, the car driver posted this video online and asked the police to take action. Pune City police and Maharashtra police were tagged under this video, and the department did respond to it. The Pimpri Chinchwad police took action against the culprits who were seen in the video. Using the registration number, both the rider and pillion were identified and were booked under the relevant sections of IPC and Motor Vehicles Act at Wakad Police Station.

The exact details related to the sections and fines (if any) are not mentioned clearly. Driving or riding a bike on the wrong side of the road is extremely dangerous. We have seen several examples in the past where this careless behavior has led to road accidents. Many people have even lost their lives while trying to save a few minutes by riding on the wrong side. In this case, nothing like that happened. The sad part about such incidents is that people in India have normalized wrong-side riding. Many don’t see this as a major offense and often find it convenient. Cops spread across different states are taking strict action against such offenders, but they continue to do it.

Coming to the road rage incident, one should always remain calm while driving or riding on the road. If you ever find yourself in the middle of a road rage incident, do not engage with the other party, as you never know how bad things could go. Always call the police for help and try to remain calm.
