With the increasing number of cars on the roads, most metropolitan cities are facing issues such as traffic jams and minor accidents. These traffic jams and congestions often frustrate drivers, leading to incidents of road rage. We have reported several road rage incidents in the past. In most cases, these conflicts arise over trivial matters. Once you start driving on less crowded roads, you will realize that such incidents are rare. Recently, a family traveling in a car was attacked by occupants of a Mahindra Thar after they asked for passage in the Bandipur forest area. The entire incident was captured on the car’s dashcam.
The video has been uploaded by Mathrubhumi on their YouTube channel. The incident occurred in the Bandipur area on June 17, 2023. The video only recently went viral on the internet. In the video, we can observe the car being driven through the Bandipur National Park area. The road that cuts through the forest is narrow, and a bus is in front of the car. We witness the car overtaking the bus, and as it completes the maneuver, a Mahindra Thar overtakes the car from the right side.

After the overtaking, the Mahindra Thar slows down and refuses to yield to the car. The driver of the car, who was attacked, was from Kerala. They honked the horn and requested passage. The Mahindra Thar driver halted the car in the middle of the road and immediately exited the vehicle. According to reports, the assailants engaged in an argument with the occupants of the car. Additionally, there was a woman in the car, and her hand was even pulled, resulting in injuries. Initially, the individuals in the Mahindra Thar were unaware of the dashcam installed in the car.

Upon discovering the camera, they attempted to damage it. Subsequently, they departed the scene after attacking the occupants. The dash camera recorded the incident, and the registration number of the Mahindra Thar is clearly visible in the video. Following the video’s viral spread, a case was registered at the Gundlupet police station, and the matter is currently under investigation.

After the video gained traction, ADGP Alok Kumar stepped forward and posted on Twitter, urging the couple to file an official complaint with the Gundlupet police station. He stated, “This incident involving a Thar vehicle took place on 17.06.23… Till date, no one has approached Gundlupet Police, Chamarajanagar District… The Thar Vehicle has been traced to Bangalore… Victims can contact Gundlupet CPI – 9480804601, for prompt and stringent action… Have spoken to CPI.”
This is not the first time we have encountered an incident of this nature. In the past, there have been cases where individuals have employed weapons such as metal bars or even brandished guns over trivial matters. Fortunately, in this case, nothing of that sort occurred. It remains unclear why the couple has not yet contacted the police. If you ever find yourself in such a situation, refrain from leaving your vehicle or lowering the window. If you anticipate that the situation might escalate, call for assistance. Avoid engaging in arguments and instead seek help from the police.
