Royal Enfield Classic 350 is India’s best-selling premium motorcycle: Numbers out!

The premium bike segment in India is  expanding steadily with the introduction of more premium models from manufacturers, and an increasing customer base. With so many choices in this segment, which one is the best seller?

Well, the headline announces the winner. Royal Enfield leads the premium bike segment with a huge margin, in terms of sales. The 350-cc duo from Royal Enfield hold the top positions. The Classic 350 is on the top followed by the Bullet 350. The Classic 350 sold 44,054 units in July while the Bullet 350 sold 13,016 units in the same period.

Royal Enfield Classic 350 is India’s best-selling premium motorcycle: Numbers out!

Both the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Bullet 350 are powered by the same engine – a 346-cc, long-stroke unit. This four-stroke motor makes 19.8 Bhp-28 Nm, and is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Best known for its relaxed thump, the 346-cc engine gets hydraulic tappets, and features a unit construction design. This has greatly reduced maintenance, making the Classic 350 and Bullet 350 top choices among those who want a ‘lifestyle’ motorcycle. While the Classic 350’s retro design is its main appeal, the sheer nostalgia value is the Bullet 350’s calling card.

Royal Enfield has recently equipped the Classic 350 Signals edition with dual-channel ABS, a feature that will be rolled out on all of its motorcycles by the end of next month.  After the Royal Enfield duo, the third place has been grabbed by Bajaj, with the sub-200 cc Pulsar range. However, even with the combined sales of all 180-cc and 200-cc Pulsar models, sales of only 8,897 units have been posted. Bajaj appears again, in the list, at the fourth place with its Pulsar 220-cc bike.

The Royal Enfield badge comes up once more in the fifth position, with the Thunderbird 350, which sold about 6154 units. All in all, Royal Enfield dominates the premium bike segment by taking 3 out of 5 top positions.
