Recently, Royal Enfield put up 15 units of the Classic 500 Stealth Black motorcycle on sale used by NSG commandos on an Terrorism-awareness spreading cross-country road trip. The bikes were put on sale on the company’s website for charity – to fund education of underprivileged children. All 15 bikes were sold in a record 18 seconds, after official sale opened at 12 PM on the 13th of December 2018.
More than 2,000 prospective buyers registered their interest on the special webpage Royal Enfield had created to sell these bikes. Registration opened on the 8th of December. The final sale happened on the 13th of December, with an online booking amount of Rs. 15,000. The bikes – which had run about 8,000 Kms, were priced at Rs. 1.9 lakhs each, and were backed by a standard Royal Enfield warranty.
Once the 15 lucky winners who paid the booking amount pay the rest of the money, they will be able to take delivery of the special edition Royal Enfields, built specifically for the NSG road trip. Each of these bikes will have a badge that signifies the special journey they were on. Here is what Mr. Rudratej Singh, the President of Royal Enfield said about the sale of the NSG motorcycles for charity,
Our long-standing partnership with the armed forces and the support extended to this expedition is to stand by the men who protect and defend us. The journey of these 15 bravehearts is an authentic story of resilience and we are honoured to have helped them on this journey, and further by sharing the sale proceeds with Prerna School. This reiterates that the power of purpose is sometimes bigger than the purpose of commerce.
