Royal Enfield launched the 650 twins last year and the bikes have earned quite a reputation in this short duration. The Interceptor 650 is the more popular choice as it appeals to a wider audience. It has also become a hit with modifiers not only in India but across the globe. The 649 cc parallel twin on the Interceptor is a gem of an engine which is among the reason for its success. While we have seen many excellent modified examples of the bike till now, here are the 5 best modified Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 based motorcycles from across the globe.
The Hooligan
Starting off the list is the Hooligan, a scrambler style motorcycle based on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. Made by our own Bulleteer Customs, the bike looks a total hooligan in all frames. The right front brake lever even has a knuckle duster attached to it which further affirms the intention of this motorcycle. A lot of changes have been made on the bike to get this look but those thick walled tires and the mid-mounted exhaust pipe are nothing short of mesmerizing. The front forks are now USD units and wear a gold shade. In short, the Hooligan will be our set of wheels if we are intentionally heading for a bar brawl.
The Prime Project
While making this compilation, I was so hooked up of looking at these gorgeous machines that it took much longer than expected to complete it. The astonishing piece of art you see above is called the ‘Prime Project’. Made by Thailand based Zeus Custom, the Prime Project is a one of its kind hand made beauty that was approved by Royal Enfield itself. It carries the classic old-school bike look mixed with art to which creates the stunning example it is. Interestingly, the whole bike was prepared in just 45 days after the sketch was approved by Royal Enfield, which is quite a feat in itself. And we are in love with those gold tipped exhaust pipes.
Modern Scrambler
Most of the scrambler bikes made by modifying Royal Enfield motorcycles have a retro look. Thrive Motorcycles from Jakarta, Indonesia had different thoughts though and hence they set upon to create a modern-looking scrambler motorcycle based on the Interceptor 650. The bike which came out of this effort is what we see in the image above and it looks totally breathtaking. A ton of parts have been replaced from the Interceptor to achieve this look and stance. This includes the gas tank, battery box, fenders, swingarm, wheels and side panels among others. The new bodywork has been handcrafted out of aluminium. Painted in a shade of dark green with golden detailing, this one is one revolutionary designed bike.
The Brute
This one is one muscular looking mod bike and hence we decided to call it ‘The Brute’. Made by K-Speed Garage based in Thailand, this bike doesn’t change the overall look of the Interceptor 650 but gives it a more mean and muscular look. It rides on new aftermarket wheels and gets an attractive chrome coating on the tank. A lot of new parts and components have been added to this custom build including the free flow silencer pipe, aftermarket handlebars, new tail and headlamps among others.
Tracker
From the famous land of Thai people is another modified Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. It has been modified on the lines of tracker bikes and well, it looks the part. The bike now rides on 19-inch rims at the front and 17 inches at rear shod on with aftermarket tires. The headlamp unit of the bike has been replaced with a new aftermarket unit while the front forks have been given rubber covers. The twin pipe stock exhaust units have been taken off and replaced with a freeflow aftermarket piece that saves weight and gives a slight bump to the power as well.
