Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 to be unveiled in India today: Video walkaround

Royal Enfield’s new flagship motorcycle – the Super Meteor 650 – will be unveiled in India today, at the Rider Mania event that’s currently underway in Goa. The Super Meteor’s prices could be announced today, and the motorcycle is expected to go on sale from early 2023. Test rides will begin shortly. The Super Meteor 650 will be pricier than both the Interceptor and Continental GT 650 twins, making it the new flagship in Royal Enfield’s range globally. As of now, the Super Meteor 650 does not have direct competition. It’s likely to be priced a little under Rs. 4 lakh. Here’s a video walkaround from EICMA 2022, an Italian motorcycle event where the Super Meteor 650 made its global debut.

The Super Meteor 650 has many firsts for a Royal Enfield. It gets upside down front forks with 120 mm of travel, an all-LED headlamp, 19 inch front-16 inch rear wheels, and true blue cruiser styling with kicked out front pegs. The motorcycle uses the same 650cc parallel twin engine found on the likes of the Interceptor and Continental GT 650, with 47 Bhp of peak power and 52 Nm of peak torque. It remains to be seen if Royal Enfield has tweaked gear ratios and the ECU map to suit the laid-back cruiser design of the Super Meteor 650. At 241 kilograms wet, the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is the heaviest motorcycle that the brand has sold in India. Ground clearance stands at 135 mm.

Other key features on the motorcycle include an instrument cluster with integrated tripper navigation, a 15.7 liter tear-drop style fuel tank, disc brakes on both wheels, a slipper clutch equipped 6 speed gearbox and dual channel ABS. The Super Meteor 650 will be available in five paint schemes: Astral Black, Astral Blue, Astral Green, Interstellar Grey and Interstellar Green. Royal Enfield will also launch a fully accessorized touring version of the motorcycle, which will get panniers, pillion back-rest, revised seats and a host of other touring-specific accessories.
