Royal Enfield Super Meteor spotted at UK Test Facility without camouflage

Royal Enfield is working on a new cruiser motorcycle that is expected to be called Super Meteor. The manufacturer recently showcased the SG650 at EICMA 202 which is a bobber version of the same motorcycle. Now, the Super Meteor has been spotted at Royal Enfield’s UK test facility that too without any camouflage.

We received the picture from happinessperkm. In the picture, we can clearly see three Super Meteors. There is also another motorcycle with a round tail lamp just behind the person but we cannot tell if it is the Super Meteor or the Meteor 350. There is also an Interceptor parked that is finished in the Orange Crush paint scheme.

We can clearly see that the Super Meteor will come with Up-side down forks at the front. USD forks provide better handling and feedback to the rider. Super Meteor will be the first motorcycle from Royal Enfield to use USD forks.

It is running on blacked-out alloy wheels so we can expect that Super Meteor will come with tubeless tyres from the factory. As of now, we do not know the rim or the tyre sizes. The exhausts are straight and stretch out till the back of the motorcycle.

The seat is low and the handlebar is wide with forward-set footpegs. So, the rider will sit fairly comfortably and will not get tired over long distances. The fuel tank has a teardrop shape and is quite wide.

The motorcycle has a theme of circles so that it looks like a retro cruiser. The headlamp, turn indicators and tail lamps are circles. Even, the instrument cluster is a circular unit. Surprisingly, the instrument cluster looks very similar to the one that we get on the Meteor 350.

On the Meteor 350, the larger circle comes with a speedometer on the outside with a small display in the centre. The display shows the fuel gauge, gear position indicator, two trip meters, an odometer and time. The smaller circle houses the Tripper Navigation module that runs by connecting to the mobile phone via Bluetooth. Tripper can show you navigation once the rider puts in the destination in his mobile phone and connects it.

Another thing that we notice is a large windscreen to protect the rider from windblasts while cruising down the highways. Super Meteor has already been spied doing speeds around 130 kmph. The motorcycle has also been spotted with pannier mounts so expect Royal Enfield to offer official touring accessories.

The test mules were using a blacked-out engine casing whereas the motorcycle in the picture use a chrome engine casing. As of now, it is now known which chassis will Super Meteor use. It could be a beefed-up version of the Meteor 350’s chassis or an all-new one.

Powering the Super Meteor will be the same 648 cc, parallel-twin engine that is air-oil cooled. The engine produces 47 PS of max power and 52 Nm of peak torque. It will come mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch.

Super Meteor is delayed

A source has revealed that Royal Enfield Super Meteor has been delayed and now will be hitting production in April to June of 2022. The reason behind this is the chip shortage that the world is facing. The manufacturer is already facing issues in reducing the waiting period of its current motorcycles. Adding another motorcycle will increase the waiting period even further.
