British luxury carmaker, Bentley launched the all-new third-generation Bentley in India last year. The all-new car has gained quite a popularity in India and its sheer opulence is something that attracts many. Well, if you think that these cars do not have the problems faced by regular mass-segment cars, you’re wrong. Since these vehicles are not made in India and have a complex system of mechanical and electronics working under the hood, they can get stranded! Here is a video of a brand-new, Continental GT W12 test-drive vehicle that broke-down during the test drive.
The video uploaded by Horsepower Cartel shows the Sunday gathering of the supercar owners in Mumbai but the highlight was the test-drive of the brand-new Bentley Continental GT. The test drive began after video shows the luxurious interior of the car. The vehicle is test-driven by an acquaintance of the person who was making the video and the recording has been made from a vehicle that was following the Bentley Continental GT around.
The video shows the Bentley being driven around on the roads of Mumbai and we can hear the crazy exhaust-note of the W12 engine in the video too! However, towards the end, the Bentley broke-down and shut down in the middle of the road. The incident happened just after crossing the famous sea link of Mumbai and since the Bentley was stranded in the middle of the road, it caused a massive traffic jam. The video shows that the slowdown extended for a long distance and covered all of the sea link.
The Bentley was then towed in a flatbed and was taken to the service centre. It should be noted that the Bentley officials present at the scenario could not pinpoint the problem. However, they did say that the fuel injection system or the ignition may have faced a problem. The fuel injection problem may cause due to the bad quality of fuel and since this is a W12 engine, which is quite high-tech, bad fuel can cause it to shut down and save the engine. Nonetheless, the video further says that the person who test drove it loved the Bentley and everything about it.
The all-new Bentley Continental GT is lighter and more powerful than the outgoing version. It gets powered by a new 6.0-litre W12 twin-turbocharged petrol engine that generates a massive power of 635 PS and earth-moving torque of 900 Nm. It propels the Bentley to 100 km/h from standstill in just 3.7 seconds. It gets an all-new dual-clutch eight-speed transmission. The top speed of the car is electronically limited at 333 km/h for safety reasons. It also gets a 48V electrical system for the Dynamic Ride System adaptive chassis. Bentley offers a host of customisation options that can jack up the cost by lakhs. The price mentioned above is the base price of the vehicle without any customisation.
