Snapshot: A rumour with its origins on AutoPortal suggests that the next-generation 2015 Ford Endeavour/Everest luxury SUV will make its global debut in India on the 3rd of February, 2014. Notably, Ford India first unveiled the EcoSport crossover in a global event held at Delhi in the run up to the 2012 Indian Auto Expo. Will we see a reprise of sorts? Time will tell.

American automaker Ford has been testing the next generation 2015 Endeavour/Everest SUV quite extensively over the past few months. While the concept version of the 2015 Endeavour/Everest SUV was showcased last year, the production variant could be unveiled in India, in the run up to the Auto Expo.

The 2015 Endeavour SUV will continue to be based on the Ford Ranger platform, which consists of a body-on-ladder frame. 2.2 liter and 3 liter TDCI turbo diesel engines are likely to be used on the 2015 Endeavour sold in India while international markets are likely to get the SUV with an EcoBoost turbo petrol engine.

Manual and automatic gearbox options are likely to be offered with the turbo petrol and turbo diesel engines. A four wheel drive system with a shift-on-the-fly mechanism and a low ratio for off roading is likely to be standard on the 2015 Endeavour, as has been the case with the current versions of the SUVs.

Fresh looks that follow Ford’s global design language, as seen on the Endeavour/Everest SUV concept, is likely to make it on the production version of the 2015 Endeavour. The SUV will continue to seat 7 adults, in keeping with the requirements of the segment in which it will operate.

The Ford Endeavour was first launched in India during 2004, and has been motoring on with facelift after facelift. As 2014 marks the 10th anniversary of the luxury SUV, the time seems apt for Ford India to reveal the successor of the Endeavour.

In India, the 2015 Ford Endeavour/Everest luxury SUV will square off with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner – the current market leader – the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, the upcoming 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Fluidic and the Chevrolet Captiva.
