Snapshot: Rumored-ly, the India-spec Ford EcoSport compact crossover will get a sunroof option in the coming months. The origin of this rumour can be traced back to the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, where Ford India showcased an EcoSport equipped with a sunroof. According to Overdrive, the sun roof equipped EcoSport will be made available over the next few months.
However, the sunroof will be offered only on the top-end variant of the EcoSport featuring the 1 liter EcoBoost turbo petrol motor. Along with the sunroof, the EcoSport equipped with the EcoBoost engine is also likely to get 17 inch alloy wheels. From the looks of it, the additional kit is likely to be added to the Titanium + variant.
Considering the year long waiting periods for the EcoBoost turbo petrol engined EcoSport, it will be interesting to see when Ford India launch a refreshed model with a sun-roof in tow. Such a variant could put additional pressure on Ford India, which is already struggling with demand for the superhit, sub-4 meter compact crossover.

The Ford EcoSport equipped thus is expected to be priced about 50,000-60,000 rupees more than the Titanium+ variant of the EcoBoost engined model. The EcoSport is sold with two other engines, a 1.5 liter TDCI turbo diesel motor (90 Bhp-205 Nm) and a 1.5 liter Ti-VCT petrol motor (108 Bhp-146 Nm). Both engines get 5 speed manual gearboxes as standard while the 1.5 liter petrol motor can also be specified with a 6 speed, dual clutch automatic gearbox. Top end variants of the EcoSport get a push button start, key less entry, 6 airbags and ABS+EBD as standard.
