The Swift hatchback and the Dzire compact sedan are among the largest selling car models for Maruti Suzuki. While sales of both the Swift and the Dzire show no signs of ebbing any time soon, competition has been steadily increasing. The Swift is seeing additional competition from the Hyundai Grand i10 while the Dzire has been fending off the Honda Amaze for a few months now.

A fresh rumour on Team-BHP indicates that Maruti Suzuki could line up updates for the Swift and the Dzire. These updates could make it to the cars over the next few weeks. Here’s the list of changes that the Swift and Dzire could get through the latest update:

  • Cruise Control
  • Daytime Running LEDs
  • 16 inch alloy wheels
  • Keyless entry with start-stop button
  • Dual tone dashboard
  • Leather wrap for the steering wheel
  • Auto up & down functions for the driver-side power window
Notably, most of these features are already available on the international-spec Swift. Given that the Dzire is a compact sedan version of the Swift, the changes made on the Swift can be easily adopted to the former. Apart from the new features, both the Swift and the Dzire are expected to retain the engines and transmissions on offer presently.
The petrol engine is a 1.2 liter K-Series unit that outputs 86 PS-114 Nm while the diesel engine is a 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet unit that pumps out 75 Bhp-190 Nm. Both engines drive the front wheels of the cars by means of 5 speed manual gearboxes. The petrol variant of the Dzire is available with a 4 speed automatic gearbox as an option.
