Sedans are quite popular in India due to their practicality and spacious-ness. The 2018 Auto Expo has seen a lot of sedans and new unveilings, but which ones are actually coming to our market? We bring you five such sedans from the Auto Expo that will be launched soon in India.
Honda Amaze
Expected launch: Mid 2018
The Honda Amaze is an essential car for the Japanese brand. The sub 4-meter sedan will get an all-new model replacement this year. The Amaze gets a new platform and a new coupe-like look. The car now looks draws inspiration from the Honda Civic and Honda Accord.
The car will be powered by 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. The petrol engine produces a maximum of 87 Bhp – 110 Nm while the diesel engine produces 98.6 Bhp – 200 Nm. It will be the first affordable diesel car in India to get a CVT automatic gearbox.
Honda Civic
Expected launch: Late 2018
The Civic will come back to India after quite a while and a few generations. The premium sedan is in its tenth generation now and will be launched in India soon. The car will serve as a platform for those who want to upgrade from the Honda City. It had been a cult following in the country its comeback will be rejoiced by the enthusiasts. It is expected to be powered by a 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that produces around 173 Bhp and a 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine when launched in India.
Tata Tigor JTP
Expected launch: April-May 2018
Tata and Jayem Auto have worked together on Tata’s newest sedan and hatchback. The sedan is the Tigor and the special edition will be called the Tigor JTP. It is for the enthusiasts and will be Tata’s first hot sedan. The car gets a lowered suspension. new air dams, and extra air scoops on the bonnet. Sporty looking smoked headlamps, side skirts and rear diffuser are also present.
The car uses the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that goes into the Nexon but additional changes have been done to the intake and the exhaust system to improve the performance. The power output is rated at 110 Bhp and 150 Nm and it gets the 5-speed manual transmission.
Toyota Yaris
Expected launch: April 2018
Toyota’s much-awaited car, the Yaris finally made its India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo. It will be Toyota’s entry ticket into the mid-size sedan segment which already has the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Honda City and the Hyundai Verna.
The Yaris is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine but the power output and not known yet. It will get a 6-speed manual transmission and a CVT too. The sedan will get 7-airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, reverse parking sensor, TPMS, hill hold, and unique features like roof mounted AC vents.
Hyundai Ioniq
Expected launch: End 2018
Hyundai announced that they will launch the Ioniq sedan in India soon. This year’s Auto Expo saw the official unveiling of the car. The Ioniq is available in many international markets as a hybrid, plug-in hybrid or fully electric. The Indian version will be the fully electric version of the car.
The futuristic-looking sedan gets an electric motor that has an output of 120 Bhp and 295 Nm. It can do 0-100 km/h in 10.29 seconds and can reach a top speed of 165 km/h. The Ioniq can do 280 km on a single full charge.
