Kia Motors entered the Indian market with the all-new Seltos in 2019. The mid-size SUV became extremely popular with the waiting periods extending to months in a few locations in India. The Seltos also became the top-selling car in the segment soon after its launch in the market. However, the launch of the all-new Hyundai Creta may bring a change in that and regain the top position in the Indian market. Hyundai launched the all-new Creta at Rs 9.99 lakhs, which is slightly more expensive than the Kia Seltos but it offers a longer list of features. Kia is now working to launch a more loaded version of the Seltos to take on the Creta and in the process, increase the overall price of the mid-size SUV too.
According to GaadiWaadi, the Kia dealerships have information that the Seltos will gain a few features in the mid and higher-end variants from April. With the new updates, the price of the Seltos will rise marginally. However, the exact feature list is not mentioned.
The report says that the mid-spec variant of the Kia Seltos – HTK Plus will get the USB port for the rear passengers. While the higher-end variants may get more additional features. The Hyundai Creta currently offers a few features that are not available with the Seltos. The panoramic sunroof is one of the biggest features missing from the Seltos. The Creta also offers paddle shifters with the automatic variants, puddle lamps, and more such features. On the other hand, the Seltos offers features like a 360-degree camera and blind-spot monitoring with the Seltos. Both these features are not available with the Creta.
The higher-end variants of the Hyundai Creta also offer dual-tip exhausts, which is another feature missing from the Seltos but is expected to be available soon. Kia is yet to announce the new features officially but the dealerships have confirmed the development.
It should be noted that both the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos are based on the same platform. Both the cars are also powered by the same engine options and get the identical transmission options too. Both Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos get the 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine options. Both the cars offer CVT automatic transmission with the 1.5-litre petrol, a torque converter with the 1.5-litre diesel and the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Kia offers the manual transmission with the high-performance 1.4-litre turbocharged engine too but Hyundai only offers the automatic transmission.
