Skoda India will launch the facelifted Yeti on the 10th of September. The SUV was showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The facelifted model gets a nip and a tuck on the outside while the insides see a mild makeover. The SUV is expected to continue unchanged in mechanical terms. The 2 liter TDI turbo diesel engine is likely to continue in two states of tunes, 108 Bhp-250 Nm for the front wheel drive model and a 138 Bhp-320 Nm state of tune for the all wheel drive model. 5 speed and 6 speed manual gearboxes will be offered on the front wheel and all wheel drive models.
The Yeti’s front end gets new headlamps, daytime running LEDs, a new Skoda family grille and a revised bumper. At the rear, the tail lamps and bumper get a make over while the alloy wheels adopt a new design too. The Yeti Facelift gets a updated fabrics and trims on the inside, along with a new steering wheel. In terms of equipment, the Skoda Yeti will continue to be packed to the gills with features and creature comforts. Airbags, ABS+EBD, traction control, ESP, hill hold, hill descent control and a Haldex clutch for the four wheel drive models are some of the features that the Yeti offers.
Although the international-spec Yeti Facelift is sold in Outdoor and Style exterior styling trims, only the Outdoor version will be available in India. The Yeti will be assembled through the completely knocked down (CKD) kit route at Skoda’s Aurangabad factory. In terms of pricing, the pre-facelift SUV was positioned in the space occupied by D-Segment sedans such as Skoda Octavia and the Volkswagen Jetta. The facelifted model is expected to be positioned likewise. The monocoque bodied SUV seats five and is well acclaimed for its cars like ride and handling characteristics.
