Well known Bollywood actress, Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra have just bought a new Mercedes-Benz V-Class MPV. She already has an impressive fleet of cars which include BMW i8, Land Rover Range Rover etc. They chose the Black colour for the MPV. Shilpa Shetty opted for the Expression variant which is the base variant of the V-Class but it still costs Rs. 71.10 lakhs ex-showroom. The on-road price in Mumbai of this variant is around Rs. 89.16 lakhs. V-Class is still the most expensive MPV that you can buy in the Indian market. Mercedes-Benz V-Class starts from Rs. 71.1 lakhs ex-showroom and goes all the way up to Rs. 1.46 Crores ex-showroom.
The manufacturer only offers the Expression variant in the long-wheelbase version due to which it can seat 7 people at once whereas other variants come as a 6-seater. The Expression variant has a wheelbase of 3430 mm and length of 5370 mm whereas other variant’s wheelbase measures 3200 mm and has a length of 5140 mm. There is also a difference in the engine options. The Expression, Marco Polo, Marco Polo Horizon and Exclusive variants come with a 2.1-litre diesel engine that produces 163PS of max power and 380Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. Whereas, the Elite variant gets a 2.1-litre diesel engine that produces the same power and torque figures but is mated to a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox. Both the engines are BS6 compliant. This massive luxurious MPV can hit a ton in just 11.2 seconds which is respectable and it tops out at 195 kmph.
The V-Class comes with LED headlamps, LED tail lamps and a huge grille with Mercedes’s star logo. It comes with electric sliding doors and Easy-pack tailgate in which the rear window could be opened separately. The interior is luxurious just like we expect from a car of this price. The manufacturer is using Nappa leather and wooden inserts for the cabin. It comes with revolving seats for the second-row so that all the passengers can face each other. The rear seats are removable which comes in really handy in case you have to pack in something big. There is automatic climate control, electric seats, optional panoramic sunroof, massage function for the seats, ambient lighting, dual-zones for climate and a lot more.

There is also a lot of safety equipment on offer. It comes with safety technology such as attention assist, crosswind assist, headlight assist, heated and auto-dimming outside rearview mirrors, tyre pressure monitoring systems, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive brake lights, auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, active parking assist, 360-degree cameras and six-airbags.
Mercedes-Benz V-Class competes only with Toyota Vellfire which is also an MPV. The Vellfire is only available in one variant namely Executive Lounge and it costs Rs. 87 lakhs ex-showroom. It is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol hybrid engine that produces 180 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 235 Nm. The engine is mated to a CVT automatic gearbox that can drive all the four wheels. It also comes with many features such as ambient lighting, heated and ventilated seats with memory function, recline function for the seats, sunshades and a lot more.
