Snapshot – The festive season is well and truly on in India. This season also coincides with a step up in car launches and sales. While a slew of cars were launched over the last month or so, half a dozen more cars are coming up in the next couple of weeks. CarToq lists out 6 new cars that will be launched shortly in India.
Maruti Alto K10 AMT Facelift
Maruti Suzuki will give the Alto K10 a major facelift in terms of the car’s design. The Alto K10 Facelift will borrow the Alto 800’s body shell and get new headlamps and tail lamps as the major differentiating elements. In terms of mechanical changes, the car will gain an automated manual transmission (AMT) unit. However, the 1 liter-3 cylinder K-Series petrol engine that outputs 67 Bhp-90 Nm will continue unchanged on the Alto K10 AMT. This engine will be available with a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard, along with petrol and CNG fuel options. The AMT option, will however be made available only on the petrol powered Alto K10 variants. Expect a 40,000 price increase from current levels, for the AMT equipped Alto K10.
Maruti Swift Facelift
India’s best selling B+ segment hatchback, the Maruti Suzuki Swift, will get a mild makeover. This facelift comes three years after the second generation Swift was launched in India. In terms of cosmetic revisions, daytime running LEDs, revised alloy wheels and reverese parking sensors are the changes on the Swift Facelift. The innards of the car gain a start-stop button, a keyless entry system, one-touch operation for the driver’s side power window and electrically retracting wing mirrors. The Swift Facelift will retain the 1.2 liter K-Series petrol and 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet turbo diesel engines, and 5 speed manual transmissions. A four speed automatic gearbox for the petrol engine – albeit unconfirmed – will be a welcome addition. Expect a mild price bump up for the fully loaded, top-end Swift Facelift.
Maruti Dzire Facelift
Like the facelifted Swift, the Dzire compact sedan will get a mild facelift that brings cosmetic changes such as a new chrome grille and smoked headlamps to the table. Other changes on the Dzire Facelift will include the addition of a push-button start and a keyless entry system. Electrically retracting wing mirrors and reverse parking sensors are likely to round off the new feature set on the Dzire Facelift. The car will retain its petrol and turbo diesel engine line up. The petrol motor will use 5 speed manual and 4 speed automatic transmissions while the diesel engine will do with a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard. The facelifted Dzire is aimed at continuing the car’s domination of the compact sedan segment in terms of sales.
The media drives of the Fiat Avventura will be wrapped up soon and the launch of the crossover styled hatchback is just around the corner. The Avventura will sit in between the Punto EVO hatchback and the Linea sedan in terms of price and positioning. The Avventura is expected to undercut the Ford EcoSport in terms of pricing, as an affordable hatchback that does everything a crossover can do, and then some more.
