Skoda Auto has started the production of the new Kodiaq in India. It will be the second SUV in Skoda’s line-up after Kushaq. The production is happening at the Aurangabad facility, Maharashtra. People who are interested in the 2022 Kodiaq can register their interest on Skoda’s website or by contacting their nearest dealerships. Skoda has already announced that they will launch the new-gen Kodiaq in January’22. The bookings and delivery will also start from January. The prices of the new Kodiaq are expected to start from just under Rs. 35 lakhs ex-showroom.

The Kodiaq will now be offered only with a petrol engine. It is a turbocharged 2.0-litre unit that produces 190 PS of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine is already doing duty on the Skoda Octavia and Superb. It will be mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox that will drive all four wheels.

The 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine replaces the old 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine. The new engine is more powerful when compared to the old one. The 2.0-litre TDI produced 150 PS of max power and 340 Nm of peak torque. It was also offered with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox with an all-wheel-drive system.

The 202 Kodiaq has a length of 4,697 mm, a height of 1,681 mm and a width of 1,882 mm. The boot space measures a massive 835-litres. If this is not enough for you then you can fold down the rear seats which increased the boot space to 2,065-litres.
Skoda has cleverly redesigned the Kodiaq. It now looks slimmer and modern. The headlamps are now slimmer, they use LED projector units and also have LED Daytime Running Lamps. It still comes with Skoda’s butterfly grille and the LED fog lamps are placed right below the headlamps.
On the sides, there is black plastic cladding, chrome window beltline and roof rails. There are newly redesigned roof rails. At the rear, there are slimmer LED tail lamps, a rear wiper with washer, a high mounted stop lamp and a rear spoiler.
Upcoming Skoda Slavia
Skoda has already revealed their new upcoming mid-size sedan called Slavia. It will be sharing its underpinnings with the Skoda Kushaq. The engines and gearboxes are also the same as the Kushaq. Skoda has started the bookings of the Slavia and they will be launching the new sedan in the first half of next year.
