It seems like Skoda is preparing to launch its first electric vehicle in the Indian market. It will be their Enyaq iV which is an electric crossover. The new vehicle has been spotted on our Indian roads. The Enyaq iV can launch sometime in early 2023.
As of now, Skoda has brought in the vehicle for testing purposes. The company will be bringing it as a CBU or Completely Built Unit. Because of this, it would be priced slightly higher. The Enyaq iV is based on Volkswagen’s MEB platform. The platform is for born electric vehicles only. It is also being shared with the Audi Q4 e-Tron and Volkswagen ID4. Because it is a born electric platform, it is very versatile. It can be used to spawn different body styled vehicles. The Enyaq iV measures 4,648 mm in length, 1,877 mm in width and 1,616 mm tall. This means it is a bit smaller than the Kodiaq but there should be no issues when we talk about space for the occupants.
The version that we see in the spy shots is the Enyaq iV 80x. This variant sits below the top-end vRS variant. The 80x variant comes with a 77 kWh battery pack that can be fast-charged up to 125 kW if you can find a DC fast charger that supports it. It has dual motors, one at each axle. This means that it comes with all-wheel drive. The total power output is rated at 265 PS with a driving range of 460 km on a single charge. It can hit a ton in 6.9 seconds.

It is the Lounge trim that we see in the pictures. It gets a light grey and black theme. Skoda calls it Anodised Cross Decor. There are 19-inch Proteus alloy wheels on the sides. In the interior, there is a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, yellow stitching on seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and ambient lighting. The upholstery that Skoda is using has a mix of leather and microfibre fabric.
Skoda might also offer the 80 variant in India because it comes with rear-wheel drive only. This means that it has a single motor that develops 510 km and has a power output of 204 PS. This variant will also be priced lower and more importantly will be the EV with the longest range in India. Kia is doing the same thing with their EV6, they are selling it in two variants as rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
Skoda increased prices of Slavia
Recently, Skoda increased the prices of the Slavia mid-size sedan substantially. The prices were increased by Rs. 60,000 for the 1.5 TSI and Rs. 40,000 for the 1.0 TSI. The prices now start at Rs. 10.99 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 18.39 lakhs ex-showroom.
Skoda also announced that they will be replacing the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an 8-inch unit. This will be done because of the ongoing semiconductor shortage issue. The same will happen with the Kushaq also.
