Skoda is officially a few weeks away from the official unveiling of their all-new SUV in the international market. Christened as Skoda Kamiq, it will become the entry-level SUV for the brand and will be positioned below the Skoda Karoq. The all-new Kamiq will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show but here are a few spy pictures that reveal entirely the car.
The Skoda Kamiq can be seen without any camouflage in these pictures taken by AutoEvolution. The Kamiq is based on the Skoda Vision-X and the exterior design looks heavily inspired by the concept model. The overall shape, however, is much more similar to the Skoda Kodiaq, which is currently the flagship SUV of the manufacturer. The partially camouflaged test cars reveal most of the details.
At the front, it gets the Skoda’s family design with the Skoda logo in the middle. The headlamps are uniquely designed and get different housing for the LED DRLs while the headlamps are placed just below it. The Kamiq carries a classy design and gets sporty looking bumpers. The side view of the Kamiq reveals the alloy wheels and the body line of the vehicle. It gets large windows, and the body remains simple without any major creases on it.
The rear of the Kamiq looks quite attractive. It gets new-age split LED tail lamps that have been designed very aggressively. The boot door also gets deep creases. The Kamiq looks quite rugged in the pictures, especially with the black bumper inserts.
Earlier, Skoda officially released the cabin details of the Kamiq. The dashboard gets a floating-type infotainment screen that gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The seats look very comfortable and get the diamond stitch pattern in the middle. The dashboard itself looks very sleek and gets a modern design with angular lines on it. Skoda will offer 10.25-inch virtual cockpit on the Kamiq, similar to the high-end Audi cars. The system was recently introduced in the L&K version of the Kodiaq. The full LCD instrument cluster will be a first-in-segment. Other features include the ambient lighting, heated windscreen, heated rear seats and steering wheel and electrically adjustable driver seat.
The Skoda Kamiq is based on the MQB-A0 platform. It is the same platform that will underpin all the affordable future launches from the Volkswagen Group in India. The all-new Kamiq is expected to be launched in India in the coming times to take on the models like Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier and the Jeep Compass.
Skoda has not revealed the engine options officially yet. In Europe, the all-new Kamiq is expected to be powered by three petrol engine options and two diesel engine options. In the Indian market, the Kamiq can come with 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. Skoda is now leading the strategy for the Volkswagen Group in India and is expected to bring in a lot of new models to India in the coming years.
