Commenting on this, Mr. Zac Hollis, Brand Director, Škoda Auto India said, “We are extremely thrilled to commence the deliveries of the 1.5L TSI Kushaq to customers. The fact that the 1.5L TSI engine can deliver 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque with a fuel efficiency of 17.95 kmpl is an incredible testament to the power of TSI and the technologically advanced ACT system. The Kushaq is a vehicle specially designed and Made in India. We are overwhelmed by the outstanding response to the car across India. I urge more and more customers to visit our showrooms and test drive the vehicle.’’
Skoda Kushaq is a very important car as it is Volkswagen group’s first production car in India 2.0 strategy. Skoda Kushaq is based on MQB AO-IN platform which was specifically developed for Indian conditions. Skoda had showcased VISION-IN Concept in India last year before the Auto Expo and the Kushaq is the production version of the same concept. The upcoming SUV from Volkswagen – Taigun is also based on the same platform as Kushaq. We recently drove the Taigun and if you want to read detailed review about the same click here.
In terms of design, the Skoda Kushaq looks similar to bigger SUVs like Kodiaq and Karoq from Skoda family. Skoda Kushaq is available with two petrol engine options only. The 1.0 litre TSI engine generates 115 Ps and 178 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 1.5 litre TSI engine which Skoda has now started the delivery of generates 150 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. It is available with 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG gearbox option with paddle shifters.
The 1.5 litre TSI petrol engine has an ARAI certified fuel economy of 17.95 kmpl for the manual and 17.71 kmpl for the DSG variant. Skoda is offering Kushaq is three variants – Active, Ambition and Style. Prices for Skoda Kushaq start at Rs 10.50 lakh, e-showroom and go up to Rs 17.60 lakh, ex-showroom. The base variant is priced a bit expensive when compared to its rivals and that is because even the base variant of Kushaq comes with decent list of features.
Skoda offers automatic climate control, LED headlamps and tail lamps, machine cut alloy wheels, touchscreen infotainment screen, electric sunroof, multi-function steering wheel, ventilated front seat, Airbags, ABS with EBD and many other features with the Kushaq.
